ACUPUNCTURE & CUPPING IN DOWNTOWN TORONTO

Acupuncture at Momentum SportMed is provided by a Registered Acupuncturist (R.Ac.) with training in acupuncture and cupping therapy.

Your symptoms, health history and goals guide treatment. Acupuncture and cupping may be used individually or together.

ACUPUNCTURE & CUPPING TREATMENT FOR YOUR NEEDS

Your acupuncturist explains the available techniques and selects an approach suited to your needs and comfort.

PERSONALIZED ACUPUNCTURE CARE
Assessment covers your health history, concerns and goals. Points and techniques can be adjusted as your needs change.

ACUPUNCTURE POINTS & NEEDLING
Acupuncture involves the insertion of very thin, sterile, single-use needles at selected points based on your individual treatment plan. Needle placement and techniques are adapted according to the areas being treated, your symptoms and your comfort level. Your acupuncturist will explain the treatment and check in with you throughout your session.

TRADITIONAL FIRE CUPPING
Traditional fire cupping uses heat to create suction inside glass cups. Your acupuncturist selects the placement and duration based on your needs. Cupping may be used for muscular tension and discomfort, alone or alongside acupuncture
treatment.

ELECTROACUPUNCTURE & TREATMENT TECHNIQUES
Acupuncture points may be stimulated manually or, when appropriate, a controlled electrical current may be applied between selected needles. Known as electroacupuncture, this provides another treatment option that may be incorporated for pain and certain musculoskeletal concerns.

YOUR COURSE OF TREATMENT
Acupuncture may involve a course of care rather than a single appointment. The frequency and duration of treatment can depend on the nature and duration of your concern, your goals and how you respond. Progress is reassessed so that acupuncture points, techniques and treatment frequency can be adjusted as your needs change.

CONDITIONS & CONCERNS WE TREAT

Acupuncture can be used as part of the management of a wide range of health concerns. Treatment is based on your individual assessment rather than the diagnosis alone, allowing care to consider your symptoms, overall health and treatment goals.

PAIN, MUSCLE & FASCIAL CONCERNS
Back and neck pain • Shoulder pain • Joint discomfort • Muscle tension • Fascial restrictions • Restricted mobility • Persistent musculoskeletal pain • Sports and activity-related injuries • Repetitive strain

STRESS, SLEEP & WELL-BEING
Stress and tension • Difficulty relaxing • Sleep concerns • Fatigue • General well-being • Physical symptoms associated with stress.

HHEADACHES, MIGRAINES, DIZZINESS & VERTIGO
Acupuncture may be incorporated into care for concerns such as tension-type headaches, migraines and recurrent headaches. Treatment is individualized based on your presentation, health history and overall treatment plan. Dizziness or vertigo should be medically assessed when appropriate to determine whether acupuncture is suitable as part of your care.

DIGESTIVE & GENERAL HEALTH
Acupuncture may be incorporated into care for a range of digestive and general health concerns, including nausea, bloating, constipation, digestive discomfort and symptoms associated with functional digestive disorders such as IBS. Treatment is individualized based on your symptoms, health history and overall presentation and may be used alongside conventional medical care when appropriate.

WOMEN'S HEALTH & FERTILITY SUPPORT
Acupuncture may be used as supportive care for menstrual symptoms, cycle-related concerns and women's health. It may also be incorporated as complementary care for individuals trying to conceive or undergoing fertility treatment, alongside care from a physician or fertility specialist when appropriate.

COSMETIC ACUPUNCTURE
Cosmetic acupuncture involves the placement of fine acupuncture needles at selected points on the face and body. Treatment may be used to support skin appearance, facial muscle tone and local circulation as part of a non-surgical approach to facial wellness. Treatment is individualized according to your goals.

RECOVERY & COMPLEMENTARY CARE
Acupuncture can complement other forms of healthcare and rehabilitation. It may be used alongside massage therapy, physiotherapy, chiropractic care or other treatment to support pain management, physical recovery, mobility and overall well-being.

WHY CHOOSE MOMENTUM SPORTMED FOR ACUPUNCTURE & CUPPING?

Acupuncture at Momentum SportMed combines the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine with individualized, patient-focused care. Treatment is provided by a Registered Acupuncturist (R. Ac.) who brings specialized training in acupuncture and traditional fire cupping, with each treatment tailored to your health concerns, comfort level and goals.

REGISTERED & SPECIALIZED CARE
Your care is provided by a Registered Acupuncturist (R. Ac.) with CTCMPAO, bringing dedicated education and training in acupuncture and cupping. This provides a different level of acupuncture-focused assessment and treatment than simply adding needling as a technique within another type of therapy.

TRADITIONAL & MODERN APPROACHES
Treatment can draw from Traditional Chinese Medicine principles, acupuncture point and meridian selection, traditional fire cupping and other appropriate acupuncture techniques. This allows care to be adapted to both your individual presentation and treatment goals.

MORE THAN WHERE IT HURTS
Acupuncture treatment does not necessarily focus only on the area where symptoms are felt. Your health history, symptom patterns and overall presentation help guide point selection and treatment strategy, allowing care to consider the broader picture rather than simply treating one painful area.

CARE WITHIN A MULTIDISCIPLINARY CLINIC
When appropriate, acupuncture can complement massage therapy, physiotherapy, chiropractic care and athletic therapy. This gives you access to different treatment perspectives within one clinic while allowing acupuncture to remain a distinct service with its own approach to assessment and care.
