Fascial Stretch Therapy (FST) is a one-on-one, table-based assisted stretching system designed to help improve mobility, flexibility and how comfortably you move. Instead of stretching on your own, a trained practitioner guides your body through controlled movements and stretches that can be adapted to your current mobility, areas of restriction and individual goals.
At Momentum SportMed, FST is provided by a Registered Massage Therapist with specialized training in Fascial Stretch Therapy. This combines an understanding of anatomy, movement and musculoskeletal care with practitioner-assisted stretching. Whether you feel stiff from work and everyday life, want to improve your mobility, are looking for a different approach to recovery, or need greater freedom of movement for training and sport, each session is tailored to how you move and what you want to achieve.

On a supported treatment table, your practitioner adjusts assisted stretches to your available movement and comfort.
ONE-ON-ONE ASSISTED STRETCHING
Instead of trying to position and stretch yourself, your practitioner does the work of guiding your body through each movement. This allows you to relax while the stretches are adjusted to your mobility, comfort and goals throughout the session.
MOVE IN MORE THAN ONE DIRECTION
Your body moves in multiple directions, so FST isn't limited to traditional straight-line or static stretches. Your practitioner can guide the hips, shoulders, spine and extremities through different angles and movement patterns to explore and work with your available mobility.
MOBILITY & FLEXIBILITY
FST can focus on areas where you feel stiff, tight or restricted and where greater mobility may help you move more comfortably. Sessions can be tailored to specific areas or take a more comprehensive approach depending on what you want to achieve.
RECOVERY & BODY MAINTENANCE
FST can be incorporated into a regular recovery and body-maintenance routine. Treatment can be adapted around the physical demands of your work, training, sport or everyday life and adjusted according to how your body is feeling that day.
ACTIVE LIFESTYLE & PERFORMANCE
For recreational and competitive athletes, mobility can be an important part of training and physical preparation. FST can be incorporated alongside strength, conditioning and recovery work based on the movement demands of your activity or sport.
WHAT AN FST SESSION FEELS LIKE
FST is performed fully clothed on a padded treatment table. Stabilization straps may be used to comfortably support and position the body while your practitioner guides you through assisted stretches and movement patterns. The range and intensity are continually adjusted according to your comfort and response.
Sessions can address specific restrictions or broader mobility goals. You do not need to be an athlete or particularly flexible to begin.
STIFFNESS & RESTRICTED MOBILITY
For people who regularly feel tight or restricted through areas such as the hips, shoulders, back or legs, assisted stretching provides a structured way to work through available ranges of movement.
DESK WORK & EVERYDAY LIFE
Long periods of sitting, repetitive positions and the physical demands of work can leave your body feeling stiff. FST can be used as part of a regular mobility and body-maintenance routine to help keep you moving comfortably.
ACTIVE & RECREATIONAL INDIVIDUALS
Whether you run, cycle, lift weights, play recreational sports or simply enjoy staying active, FST can be tailored around the movements and mobility demands of the activities you enjoy.
ATHLETES & PERFORMANCE
Athletes can incorporate FST into their broader training and recovery routine when mobility and flexibility are important to the demands of their sport. Sessions can be adapted around training schedules, competition and individual movement goals.
RECOVERY & RETURN TO ACTIVITY
After an injury or period of reduced activity, stiffness and loss of mobility can sometimes remain even as you return to normal activity. When appropriate, assisted stretching can complement your broader rehabilitation or return-to-activity plan.
REGULAR MOBILITY & BODY CARE
You don't need to wait until something hurts. FST can also be used proactively by people who want dedicated time to work on mobility, flexibility and maintaining comfortable movement.
At Momentum, your FST practitioner is an RMT with specialized FST training.
RMT + FST TRAINING
Your FST practitioner is also a Registered Massage Therapist. This provides a broader understanding of muscles, joints, movement and common musculoskeletal concerns when adapting your assisted stretching session to your individual needs.
MORE THAN A STANDARD STRETCH ROUTINE
Your movement, comfort and goals guide the sequence and focus of each session.
STRETCHING WITH A PURPOSE
Sessions can focus on the mobility needed for your work, training or everyday activities.
FROM EVERYDAY MOBILITY TO SPORT
Momentum works with everyone from people managing the physical demands of everyday life to recreational and competitive athletes. FST can be adapted to your activity level and incorporated into a broader approach to mobility, recovery and physical performance.
PART OF A SPORTS MEDICINE TEAM
When stiffness or restricted movement may require more than assisted stretching, you have access to massage therapy, physiotherapy, chiropractic and athletic therapy within the same clinic. This means FST doesn't have to be treated as the answer to every problem.
